It all begins with an idea.
Small Town Art Publications was established in 2021 to showcase and celebrate the wonderful artists that reside in the small communities throughout America. Poets, dancers, musicians, painters, jewelers, photographers, ceramicists, culinary artists, and actors are storytellers, brave and bold thinkers and valuable assets to every community. Our selected books will be identifying and sharing some of their work.
David Powdrell served as board chair of the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center from 2010-2019. While at the helm he met and laughed hard with so many incredible artists. Whenever asked if an artist could donate a piece of art, or prepare a culinary dish or provide musical entertainment, the reply was always, “Absolutely, what else can I do for you”.
Small Town Art Publications was formed as a thank you to those artists. 100% of the sales proceeds from our first book are donated to the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center.
A huge thank you to all the donors that underwrote the cost of each book. Thank you also to all the volunteers that make these books possible; the photographers, editors and graphic designers. Marco Rigonati, Christie Boyd, Lea Boyd, Ingrid Bostrom and Janey Cohen led the “Dream Team”.
This is clearly a win-win-win small-town arts project.
We are excited to announce our newest book, Small Town Big Appetite, coming this spring! This book celebrates the collaboration of local artists with local restaurants and their signature recipes. It’s an artbook AND a cookbook! All proceeds from the sales of this book will go to the Santa Barbara County Foodbank and the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center.
We’re always looking to identify the brave and bold revolutionary artists; the individuals that will help spur on new innovation and new thinking, the people that color outside the lines in life. If you are one of those people, or your community would be interested in publishing a book that celebrates the local, small-town artists, please contact us.
